NoFo @ the Pig

In 1999, the Five Points neighborhood in Raleigh experienced a sense of loss when the local Piggly Wiggly grocery store, affectionately known as "The Pig," closed its doors. However, this setback sparked a new vision for the historic building. In 2001, after comprehensive renovations, NOFO @ The Pig opened in Raleigh's Historic Five Points shopping district. The revitalized space honored its roots by preserving many of the original Piggly Wiggly design features.

The full-service bar was decorated with hundreds of Piggly Wiggly food cans, and original dairy case displays were cleverly repurposed as retail display fixtures. At the heart of the space, a custom handblown glass chandelier—encircled with whimsical pigs chasing sausages—serves as a focal point beneath the building's original metal circular ceiling supply grill. By blending nostalgia with creativity, NOFO @ The Pig successfully retained the character and charm of its predecessor while offering a fresh experience for the community.
